Flags Project
The Flags Project of the 1st Maryland Cavalry Battalion CSA set four objectives
Research and locate the surviving flags and banners of the 1st Maryland Cavalry Battalion CSA
Accurately reproduces those flags and banners for reenactment use
Offer a presentation of our work to the general public through Schools, Historical Societies, Civil War veteran's camps and Roundtables
Provide funding for the cleaning and sonservation of the original surviving flags of the 1st Maryland Cavalry CSA
The first two objectives have been met and we are happy to offer our presentation to the publice.
The principle speaker, James McGlincy, is a member of the National Registry of Living Historians. His work on the flags project has been endorsed by the Museaum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Maryland Sons of Confederate Veterans Color Guard, and the State Archives in Annapolist. The presentaion includes histories of the flags with a display of the reproductions, followed by questions and answers. The presentation last about 45 minutes.
The proceeds from these presentations goes toward the final objective, 1st Maryland Cavalry Battalion's commitment to clean and conserve the original glags of our unit.
